A Call to Prayer Reminder

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ Jesus,

In this season of the Holy Spirit, I am writing to remind you to pray for the College of Bishops as we prepare to select the new Archbishop and Primate of the Anglican Church in North America. In exactly one month from today, on June 20, our bishops will gather in Conclave and in prayer in LaTrobe, PA, to seek the Lord for our leader for the coming five years.

Please join me on Wednesdays or Fridays setting aside specific times of prayer (and fasting) asking for God’s discernment, wisdom, and guidance.  Also, please include this request in your Sunday prayers.

Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of the bishops of our Church who shall choose a new Archbishop for this Province, that we may receive a faithful pastor who will preach the Gospel, care for your people, equip us for ministry, and lead us forth in fulfillment of the Great Commission; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (adapted from BCP 2019, for Selection of Bishop or Other Minister)

Faithfully yours in Christ Jesus,

The Most Rev’d Dr. Foley Beach
Archbishop and Primate, Anglican Church in North America
Bishop, Anglican Diocese of the South
Bible Teacher, A Word from the Lord

Service of Holy Communion & Baptism

Please join us on Tuesday, June 11th at 6:30 p.m. for a special service of Holy Communion for the feast of St. Barnabas and to witness the baptism of Oliver Brownstein. Please be in prayer for Oliver as he approaches this occasion. There will be a basket in the narthex where we encourage you to leave him a card or gift to mark this day.

Senior Warden’s Corner

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Praise God for His mighty working in our midst. We are blessed to have had 20 confirmations of all ages and 2 individuals received during our Bishop’s recent visit, with four weddings planned for this summer!

As noted in our Annual Parish Meeting last Sunday, we thank outgoing Vestry members Susan Herbert, Mary Jo Rigby, and Kelly Smith-Moore as they complete their three-year terms, and welcome newly elected Vestry members Bob Dryden, Bob Eliot, and Kelly-Smith Moore who is returning for a second term. In the meeting we also received encouraging reports from from Fr. Jonathan and our Treasurer, Sean Reeves. The new Vestry will elect all of its officers for one-year terms when we next meet on June 1.

Now that the Capital Campaign for the proposed Parish Hall has begun, please check out the capital campaign page on the church website for more information, including FAQs.

As always, please let any member of the Vestry know how we can better serve the Lord with you.

Your Senior Warden,
Steve Mouton

Women’s Book Club – This Saturday!

There’s still time! Come join other women of the church to discuss Abigail Shrier’s new book, Bad Therapy: a critique on how the modern therapeutic culture is hurting our children. This discussion is particularly geared towards mothers and how we raise our children, but any and all women are encouraged to attend. We will be meeting from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on June 29th in The Cottage. Light brunch fare will be served. Please RSVP to Joby Mitchell or Annie Kell.

Summer Hymn Sing – This Sunday!

Please join our church family on the last Sunday of each month in the summer, from 9:15 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., beginning THIS SUNDAY, as we gather to have a Hymn Sing. We will sing together some of our favorite songs, with words to draw us into worship and encourage our souls. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The first Hymn Sing will be held on June 30th.

Mens Fellowship – THIS Saturday

Men of Church of Our Saviour, please carve out time to meet this Saturday, June 8th, at 7:00 a.m. in The Cottage as we continue moving through the “Articles of Religion.” All men are welcome and encouraged to attend for Bible study, discussion, and fruitful fellowship with one another.

Ladies Forum – THIS SATURDAY

Our next Ladies Forum will be held this coming Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in The Cottage. Stephanie Zullinger will be leading the discussion and the topic is “The Rule of Life.” For more information about the topic, click or cut and paste the following: https://www.tshoxenreider.com/rule . We hope to see you there!

*The Ladies Forum will be taking a break during the summer months, but will resume in the Fall.

Every day we make choices which reflect who we are. As followers of Christ, they also help determine who we might become: ideally more and more like Him. Join us on June 1st at 1pm as together we explore how we can incorporate– embody–the principles of our faith into our everyday routines and activities. How might our lives be a response to God’s grace? How can even the most ordinary life be lived sacramentally?
