Church News & Events

Adult Choir

Would you be interested in participating in our adult choir this year? If we have enough voices, the group will rehearse on Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:00 p.m., beginning September 24th, and provide a musical contribution in the 10:30 a.m. service at least every few weeks, as well as special music during holidays. Please contact Steve Mouton at [email protected] if you’re interested or have any questions.

Student Event | Oct. 12

High School + College Students Evening

All high school students are invited to an evening of prayer, feasting, and fellowship with the Patrick Henry College students at the church on October 12th from 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. We will gather for a brief service of Evening Prayer in the church, followed by a meal in the cottage and a time of fellowship. For more information, please speak with Caleb and Natalie Symons.

Sunday School

Confessions of  Augustine of Hippo

This Fall, during the Sunday School Hour (9:15 a.m.) adults will be studying “Confessions” by Augustine of Hippo, and all are welcome and encouraged to participate. To order the book and follow along, please visit HERE .

Ember Days

“The Ember Days are set aside by the Church as a way to mark the passage of seasons through prayer and fasting. As you may suspect, this happens four times a year: in winter, after the feast of St. Lucy; in spring, after Ash Wednesday; in summer, after Pentecost Sunday; and in fall, after Holy Cross Day. An old English rhyme states: “Fasting days and Emberings be / Lent, Whitsun, Holyrood, and Lucie.” These are days for prayer and fasting, specifically prayer for clergy and ordinations, as well as taking care of the needy. They are days to be attentive to the givenness of God’s created order in the passage of the seasons.”  Source.

As you pray for clergy and ordination during the Ember Days and find that you would like to know more about the discernment process for holy orders, please contact Fr. Jonathan or Eric.

Teaching The Virtues | Sep. 19

Please join us on the evening of September 19th at 6:00 p.m. for a discussion with David Hein. Hein’s newest book, Teaching the Virtues, offers a fresh look at a perennial educational aim—encouraging virtue in the next generation. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Faithful Men Concert | Sep. 13

Please join the Church of Our Saviour church family on Saturday, September 13th, at 3:00 p.m. for a concert featuring “The Faithful Men.”

“The Faithful Men group was ecumenically formed in 1998 and celebrated our 25th reunion in August of 2023. In fact, we are members of 7 different Churches.  Today, we consist of 12 men and an accompanist, Orville Bame, and have performed at more than 645 events at approximately 200 venues.  We believe that God is not concerned with the brand name of denomination over your church door, but rather HE is more concerned with the brand name of Christian over your heart.”

All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
