Bible Study
Christians are Bible people. We believe that God speaks to us through the Bible, and that God has inspired (that is breathed out) the words of the Bible. We also believe that the Bible points us to Jesus Christ, and that ‘faith comes through hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ’ (Romans 10.17).
We believe that ‘All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, (2 Timothy 3.16) and that ‘the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4.12).
We admit that there is too often a gap between our profession and our practice. The remedy for that is even closer attention to the word of Christ, asking him to enable us to put into practice that which he commands.
To this end, our sermons are based on a Bible passage, individual Bible reading is encouraged using provided devotional guides. Every Wednesday evening at 6 PM, gather with us for our Wednesday Evening Fellowship or start your week with inspiration at our Women’s Bible Study, held every Monday at 9 AM. And don’t miss our Sunday morning Sunday School, beginning at 9:15 AM.
We believe that as God’s word is taught carefully, God’s voice is heard clearly.
“Blessed Lord, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning; Grant that we may in such wise, hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and comfort of thy holy Word, we may embrace, and ever hold fast, thee blessed hope of everlasting life, which thou hast given us in our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen (Collect for the-2nd Sunday in Advent – Book of Common Prayer)
