Please join us on Thursday, April 16th, at 6:30 pm, for a service of Evensong With The Saint Timothy School, followed by dessert and drinks in the cottage.
The Saint Timothy School is a K4-12 Reformed Episcopal parish school in Uptown Dallas. The mission of the STS is to help parents fulfill their baptismal vows by forming their children in the classical Christian tradition and in the daily worship of the parish. Each year, the Upper School takes a heritage trip, singing in Anglican churches and exploring historic sites, alternating each year between international and domestic trips.
The service of evensong (sung evening prayer) is sometimes considered the crown jewel of Anglicanism. Composers throughout the ages have written thousands of wonderful settings of the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis. The service music this evening comes from The Saint Timothy Service, a complete set of musical settings of the canticles and responses for morning and evening prayer, according to the 1928 prayer book, written specifically for the school by its choirmaster, Andrew Dittman.
