Request from our Bishop

Eastertide greetings,

I am writing with two prayer requests.  First, Archbishop Foley Beach’s second term as Primate of the ACNA will end this June 2024.  The ACNA College of Bishops will be meeting in June to select a new Archbishop.  Archbishop Beach has requested that all members of the ACNA set aside time each Wednesday, Friday or both to pray (and fast as able) for the bishops as they seek God’s direction and will in selecting the next ACNA Archbishop.

Second, I have appointed the Search Committee assigned with the task of presenting not more than 5 names to our Standing Committee as potential candidates for the office of Bishop Coadjutor for our diocese.   From this list, the Standing Committee will then present their nominations for this office to our diocese in preparation for our synod in October when an election will be conducted to determine our new Bishop Coadjutor.
I request that all diocesan parishes and members set apart time over the next 6 months to pray for our Search Committee and Standing Committee as they interview and prepare a list of candidates and for our diocese as we prepare to elect a new Bishop Coadjutor.
Please announce these requests to your parishes.

With affection and prayer,

+Peter M.

Assist us mercifully, O Lord, in these our supplications and prayers, and dispose the way of thy servants towards the attaining of everlasting salvation; that among all the changes and chances of this mortal life, they may ever be defended by thy most gracious and ready help, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Men’s Fellowship | April 13th

Men of Church of Our Saviour, please join us for the monthly Men’s Fellowship on Saturday, April 13th at 7:00 a.m.in The Cottage for a time of Bible study and refreshment. If you have any questions, please see Ralph Davis.

Ladies Luncheon | April 13th

Ladies, make plans to join with other women for a time of fellowship, discussion, and ministry. The annual REC Ladies Luncheon will be held in cooperation with Holy Trinity Church, Fairfax.  We will gather at the home of Joanne Mansour in Haymarket on Saturday, April 13 (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)

We are blessed to have Shelley Fleming, who will be set apart as a deaconess in May, lead us in prayer and reflection on God’s Word. An offering will be taken to support Bishop Gerhard Meyer and his wife who have sacrificially ministered the Gospel in Germany. To read more about Bhp. Gerhard and Grace, click this link.

Please contact Annie Kell if you have further questions or want to RSVP for the luncheon.

PHC 5k for Mosaic

We have a wonderful “praise” to share! Our very own Marcia Washburn organized a 5K run for students and the community of Patrick Henry College to raise money for Mosaic Pregnancy Center. It was quite a success and raised over $3,400 for a wonderful ministry.

Well done!

Bible Reading Marathon

Join believers from across Loudoun County as we read from Genesis to Revelation in 88 hours, from Saturday, April 27 until noon May 2, at the Leesburg Courthouse. Church of Our Saviour has signed up for Sunday, April 28 from 6 – 8 pm, and are looking for 8-12 volunteers to read from scripture during this time.

Please talk to or email Virginia Phillips to sign up for time slots within this period. Or if you are available to read at another time, you can sign up and learn more at: https://www.loudounawakening.org/bible-reading-marathon

Commandment Boards

By God’s grace the Church of Our Saviour will have Commandment Boards permanently installed so that they can be blessed by our bishop on Sunday April 21st. These Boards are a tremendous gift to the parish, set before us the fundamentals of the faith, and unite us to a uniquely Anglican practice. Read more about the history and significance of Commandment Boards by clicking this link or you can cut and paste the following: https://northamanglican.com/commandment-boards-and-catechesis/

Bishop Consecration

Last week, the Diocese of Mid-America of the Reformed Episcopal Church consecrated a new bishop suffragan, The Very Rev. Canon Dr. Charles F. Camlin. Most laymen never have the opportunity to participate in this service. You, however, can watch a recording of this service by clicking this link.

Parish Hall Meeting Change

Due to scheduling conflicts for key leadership of the Parish Hall project, the Vestry has decided to move the next meeting from Sunday, April 7th to Sunday, April 14th. This meeting will take place during the Sunday School hour beginning at 9:15 a.m. We want to encourage all of our members to attend, if it is at all possible. We will have a brief presentation on the financial position of the parish, a brief update from the Senior Warden, and an extended time for questions and comments on the proposed Parish Hall.

Easter Egg Hunt

As is our custom, we will hold an Easter Egg Hunt for the children of the parish on Easter Sunday following the 10:30 a.m. service. Due to the growing number of children, we are going to have staggered hunts, allowing younger toddlers/children to “hunt” first before sending in the older children. Please meet over by The Cottage following service and await further instruction from Chris Love on when we will begin. Brown lunch bags will be provided for egg collection but if your child has a special basket they would like to bring, that’s wonderful as well!

Easter Egg Hunt Volunteers

We are in need of 2-3 people to volunteer to purchase candy, stuff Easter eggs, and hide the eggs for an Easter morning hunt for the children of the parish.

‎Women’s Forum | April 6th

Saturday, April 6th @ 1pm

Please join the women of the church on Saturday, April 6th, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. for our monthly Women’s Forum. Come and share your Lenten experiences – be they your fasting practices, what you did to carve out space and time for God and the Scriptures, or what made this Lent special for you. As in past Forums, this is an opportunity for fellowship and reflection for all the ladies of the parish. If you have any questions, please contact Lois Davis or Karen Dryden.

Coffee Hour Changes

Coffee Hour Hosting Changes

We now have coffee hour host teams designated for the 10:30 services but there is always room for additional volunteers.  If you haven’t yet joined a team and would like to, please contact Karen Rafferty at [email protected].   The link to sign up to bring refreshments for the 8:00 services is here:  https://signup.com/go/QtdmVXX.  We appreciate all the volunteers who make our coffee hours possible as this is a vital way for the church to build and strengthen the bonds of community.
