A Christmas Greeting from Fr. Jonathan
In the Nativity of Our Lord, we celebrate the descent of God. He who cannot be contained by the expanse of the cosmos humbled Himself and took to Himself our flesh, our frailty, our mortality and even our sin. All this He did so that we might ascend, that we might be called the sons of God, be partakers of the divine nature and reign with Him eternally. Beloved, let us hallow this season of Christmas and laud Him, for He did not abhor the virgin’s womb but condescended to our low estate that we might share in His eternal glory.
The Anglican Way: Both Catholic and Reformed

Summer Hymn Sing September 3
September 3 @ 9:15 am – 10:00 am
St. John Chrysostom (A.D. 347-407) said, “Nothing so arouses the soul, gives it wing, sets it free from the earth, releases it from the prison of the body, teaches it to love wisdom and to despise all the things of this life, as concordant melody and sacred song composed in rhythm.”
During the Summer we will have a hymn sing on the first Sunday of each Month during the Sunday School hour (9:15-10:00 a.m.). All ages are encouraged to attend. We will be learning a few new settings of our service music, along with a few selected hymns. Then we will have the opportunity to call out hymns and join our voices.
This should be a delightful and spiritually enriching time.
Book Club Aug. 24
August 24, 2023
Current Book: Sword and Scimitar by Raymond Ibrahim
According to Muslim tradition, in the mid-seventh century the Roman emperor rejected Prophet Muhammad’s order to abandon Christianity and convert to Islam and unleashed a centuries-long jihad on Christendom. Sword and Scimitar chronicles the decisive battles that then arose, beginning with the first major Islamic attack on Christian territory in 636. The majority of these landmark encounters–including the battles of Yarmuk, Tours, Manzikert, the sieges at Constantinople and Vienna, and the crusades in Syria and Spain–are now forgotten or considered inconsequential. Using original sources in Arabic and Greek, historian Raymond Ibrahim describes each battle in vivid detail and explains how these wars and the larger historical currents of the age reflect the cultural fault lines between Islam and the West.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 24th. More details to come.
If you are interested in participating in book club generally, getting updates on future books, and keeping up to date on discussions, please email Virginia Phillips at:
